General Information for 2023 Trips

Location of Assignment: Guatemala - village yet to be determined

Job Title: Evangelism Team

Project Description: The team will do door-to-door evangelism, children's activities, and evangelistic services. Our goal is to share the gospel with a town or village and encourage a new church plant.

Health and Climate Considerations: The team may be traveling over some rough roads. Wear good walking shoes. If you have existing medical conditions, please consult with and get permission from your primary care provider before enlisting for a trip.

Health Care Facilities: There are fair medical facilities where we stay. Medical facilities in outlying areas are marginal to non-existent. Medical facilities in Guatemala City are very good.

Culture, Customs, Clothing, etc.: Female team members need to wear comfortable dresses or skirts with hems below the knees while we are working in the villages. Male team members need to wear pants (no shorts) while we are working in the villages. Shorts should only be worn while in Salama (where we stay) and around the hotel or in Guatemala City and Antigua. Be considerate of the fact that many local Guatemalans will be in and around the hotel, so dress in a way that reflects biblical modesty. Men with earrings must remove them while in public, and drinking alcoholic beverages and tobacco use is strictly prohibited while on a trip with LBB.

  1. Cost - The cost for trips in 2023 will be $2,250.

  2. Passport - You should have a passport for at least one month before the trip and your passport should be valid for six months after the trip's conclusion.

  3. Prayer Partners - We encourage each team member to enlist several people to pray for the trip. Below are some of our encouraged prayer points:

    1. Safe travels to and from Guatemala

    2. Evangelistic efforts in the villages

    3. Ongoing church planting efforts in the villages

    4. The pastors and ministry leaders in and around our work in Guatemala

  4. Luggage - Each team member will pay $35 - $45 (not included in the above price) going to and coming back from Guatemala for their first checked bag. If you have a second checked bag, it could cost up to $100 each way. In Guatemala, you must use a credit card for luggage payments. Each team member must carry their own bags at the airport. Checked bags have a limit of 50 lbs each (we will provide a luggage scale for each team member to use). We recommend that you carry one set of clothes, any prescription medications, glasses, and contacts in your carry-on. Your name and address should appear on tags inside and outside your luggage. Make additional copies of your passport and place them inside each carry-on and checked bag. Love Beyond Borders will provide yellow luggage tags for team members to make luggage easier to identify.

  5. Airport Check-in - Arrive 2 hours before departure at the airline counter for check-in as a group.

  6. Journal - We recommend each team member to bring a journal to keep a record of your trip.

  7. Minors - Anyone under 18 years of age needs special permission to travel and must provide the team leader with two documents: (1) permission to secure medical treatment, and (2) permission to travel outside the country. Reach out to us at lovebeyondbordersar@gmail.com for specific instructions on these two forms.
